ORGANISING COMMITTEE:

The Organising Committee comprises of the representatives of national and local University Sports Federation, the Polish Bridge Union and others, with prof. Pior Kula as the President of Organizing Committee. Office duties are provided by the University Sports Federation in Lodz bureau. Lodz University Sports Federation also takes over legal obligations of Organizing Committee. For all contacts with FISU, the person directly responsible is Lukasz Janczar.

ACADEMIC AUTHORITIES:

Academic authorities associated in Convent of Rectors of Public Universities in have been officially invited to take up the patronage of Championships.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience - Lodz University Sports Federation has organized several international sport events, including World University Wrestling Championship in 2004, and High Jump and Pole Vault Meetings in 2000-2002. During the first weeks of July we organized European Universities Handball Championship in Lodz - over 330 participants from 20 universities enjoyed over 50 matches and friendly atmosphere of the Championship.

PROGRAMME:

Please note: duration of each match has been set to 65 minutes.
The number of sessions will be determined when the number of countries is known, as each team will play against each other team. The number of boards per match will be adapted in function of the number of matches. A provisional schedule of 32 matches is published below.
Each teams will play against each other team if the number of teams is not too high.

COMPETITION VENUE:

Competition venue is located in the university campus in the tennis hall. The hall will be divided into three parts: open room, closed room and a free area for supporters, guests, officials and referees.

SPORTS EVENT CONDUCT:

Championship will be conducted according to the technical rules of FISU.
The OC will use material of the highest standards from the Polish Bridge Federation. Following material will be needed: table with screens, bidding-boxes, English symmetrical cards, English convention cards, timer. The following printing material will be provided by the OC: programmes, registration forms following FISU regulations, line-up forms, match result cards, table-score cards, convention cards, 1st page for daily bulletin, appeal forms, objection forms, penalty score forms.

JURY ASSIGNMENT:

The president of the Appeal committee will be Geert Magerman. There is a sufficient number of referees in Poland, which guarantees that the championship will be carried out accordingly to international regulations.

ACCOMMODATION:

Student's House no. 11 of the University of Lodz in Lumumby Campus, refurbished in 2004. Comfortable 2+2 studios with bathrooms in refurbished buildings are perfect for accommodation. During World University Wrestling Championship in 2004, the athletes were very satisfied with its standard. All rooms have Internet access. Within the university campus, participants will have access to training facilities, sauna swimming pool, shops and cafeteria.

RESTAURANTS:

The university restaurant, also situated in the campus, can serve up to 200 meals at a given time. The canteen will be opened throughout the day and serve varied menu. It is located 200m form accommodation venue.

ACCOMODATION AND RESTAURANT FOR VIP/FISU GUESTS:

Also in the 11th Student House (single rooms if required), university restaurant.

WELCOME AND ACCREDITATION:

Accreditation for delegations will be carried out in accommodation location (University Campus). All participants will receive identification/accreditation card.

ADMINISTRATION HEADQUARTERS:

OC office will be located in the main student hall with a telephone, fax and Internet access. Information boards will be placed in student halls and both sport centers. A separate press office can be also provided in main sports centre.

PARTICIPANTS:

Each country is authorised to present two (2) teams of seventeen (17) persons composed of a maximum of twelve (12) competitors and five (5) officials.

AGE LIMIT:

The competitors must be born between January 1st, 1980 and December 31st, 1990.

MEDICAL SERVICE:

An appropriate medical service will be assured by the organiser - first aid on the place of the competition and training sessions, access to ambulance and emergency service in hospitals during the Championships.

TRANSPORT:

Participants will be collected from and taken back to bus station (www.pks.lodz.pl, www.polskiexpress.pl), railway station (Lodz Fabryczna and Lodz Kaliska railway stations, www.rozklad.pkp.pl/bin/query.exe/en) or Lodz airport (code LCJ, www.airport.lodz.pl). Lodz Airport has direct connection with Dublin, Nottingham, Liverpool, London, Edinburgh, Tel-Aviv, Copenhagen and Vienna . For more details, please ask your local airline agent.

Bus transport from and back to Okecie airport (code WAW) in Warsaw is also available for approximate 12$ per person one way.

According to EUSA rules, the organizer provides bus transport within the city. Shuttle bus will be available during all days of championship. For VIP/EUSA/guests, we provide minivans or private cars.

SPORT FACILITIES:

Sport facilities are available during the championship. Athletic stadium, football and beach volleyball fields, gym and others are available so please do not forget to bring sport clothes with you.

OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES:

Opening ceremony will take place in AZS Lodz Sport Hall, 22/26 Lumumby Street. Closing ceremony will be organized in the auditorium with 400 seats and good audio possibilities at the new Marketing Faculty campus, 22/26 Matejki Street.

WEATHER:

The average temperature in the first week of September is 14ēC, but may go up to 25ēC or down to 5ēC.

LANGUAGE:

Organizer provides interpreting services for all meetings and ceremonies, and multilingual voluntary services for all teams.

MEDIA SERVICES:

Organizers ensure full internet & telecommunication access in the press center, available within the area of the sports centre. All office facilities will be available for the whole period of championship. Organizers do not intend to sign any official agreements with national or international broadcasters. The championship will be covered by local TV stations.

PRE-CHAMPIONSHIP CAMP:

Pre-championship camp is also available for 45 euro per day per person– including full accommodation, training halls and revitalization facilities.

POLISH VISAS:

Polish visas are required for some nationalities. We have sent to those participating federations 'Visa application form' in .doc and .pdf format in English, French, German, Spanish and Russian. We are ready to send you official paper that confirms participation in championship in Poland (if required). All information on visa applications and the list of Polish Consulates in your countries can be found in English at www.msz.gov.pl


Non-FISU countries can participate in tournament according to particular principles defined by FISU.


There will be an OC insurance against all claims for loss, injury to individuals or damage to goods arising from the holding of the championship.


Participant's accomodations and sports facilities will be safeguarded by security service providers, including certified security officers.


We do not expect large contracts, but local sponsors will partially cover the costs of equipement and social program. Main income will come from participation fees, while accommodation costs are expected to constitute the main expenditures.

Any other rules are consistent with standard FISU regulations.
